Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): The state mission authority of the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) met on June 27 at the chief minister’s secretariat in Kohima. The meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
A number of legislators and high ranking government officials attended the meeting, updates stated. The establishment issued on Thursday a press release to the media informing about said meeting.
The meeting was conducted to review the activities of the SRCW, the updates stated.
Sarah Ritse, secretary for Social Welfare, said that the centre was the project management unit of the child education scheme Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP), besides being an implementing agency for a number of women’s welfare agencies.
The members of the centre deliberated on strengthening “convergence mechanisms,” according to the press release, for successful implementation of key schemes of the ministry of Women and Child Development.
The press release stated that the members discussed key issues and challenges. It included the BSNL and telecommunication service providers in matters concerning helpline agencies for women; Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act of 2005; Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act of 2013, and capacity building exercises, and livelihood.
