Women’s Champions Trophy: Wins for Puliebadze, Saramati and Japfü

Dimapur: Puliebadze Slingers defeated Pauna Queens by 1 wicket in a thrilling super over encounter after the match ended in a tie at Nagaland Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

After Puliebadze Slingers won the toss they sent in the Pauna Queens to bat first and the Slingers restricted the Queen to a total of 59 runs losing all wickets in 20.4 overs.

Chasing just 60 runs target for the win, Puliebadze Slingers got off to a confident start with their opener Illuneule scoring 24 runs. However the trio of Elina Muru, Merensola and Sangtinaro combined with 3 wickets each for an exciting fightback and got the Puliebadze Slingers all out in 17.1 overs with 59 runs on the board resulting in a tie.

In the super over, the first ever in Women’s Champions trophy, the Slingers edged out the Queens by 1 wicket. The player of the match was awarded to Priyanka for scoring 11 runs and taking 3 wickets.

In the second match, Saramati Warriors defeated Terogvu Titans by 8 wickets. Terogvu Titans having won the toss elected to bat first and set a target of 90 runs losing 2 wickets in 25 overs. Iduabeule and Limatula top scored for their side with 26 and 28 runs each. In the run chase it was Jyoti once again with 32 runs who gave Saramati Warriors the dream start and with a brilliant knock of 31 runs coming from the blade of Sariba, the Warriors marched to another comfortable win. Player of the match went to Sariba for scoring 31 runs and claiming 2 wickets.

In the third match played at Sovima Cricket Ground, Japfü Dazzlers defeated Tiyi Strikers by 10 wickets. After winning the toss Tiyi Strikers opted to bat first and in their stipulated 25 overs managed to put up only 44 runs on the board losing 8 wickets. In reply the opening batting duo of Japfü Dazzlers Najmeen 24 runs and Alemienla 12 runs remained not out to steer their team to a comfortable win without any loss in 9.1 overs. Najmeen was adjudged the player of the match for her 24 runs knock and 2 wickets haul.
