Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): As part of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, the Longleng district administration and Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK), in collaboration with Phomla Hoichem (PH), an apex women organisation of the Phom community, organised a walk against violence in Longleng town on December 7.

Speaking at the event, PH president Chuimei Phom encouraged the gathering to organise such programmes to show support and strengthen the fight against any form of violence on women and girl child in the society, stated a DIPR report.

A brief introduction on the significance of the programme was delivered by Niamla Phom, women pastor of Longleng Town Baptist Church.

The walk began from Lempong with slogans such as “Stop violence, we will not tolerate any more,” “It takes four generations to recover from violence,” “Stop domestic violence,” “Think of your own daughters, sisters and wife,” “Say no to domestic violence,” etc., and culminated at Aboi junction.

Report stated that women from different churches, ward presidents, youth representatives from various organisations and district administration headed by SDO (C) of Longleng participated in the walk.

The walk concluded with a prayer said by Asangla Imchen, women pastor of Ao Baptist Church, Longleng.
