Dimapur, May 6 (EMN):
During these trying times, two mothers from Kiyeto village in Dimapur district have been selling savouries for livelihood during the lockdown. In order to earn for the family, Lovino Swu and Lovily Aye started their small business together.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Swu said that she started the roadside stall along with her neighbour as both of them wanted to add to her family income as her husband, who is a business man by profession, couldn’t work during the lockdown.

Though it was challenging initially due to the inability to procure the items from the market, she said that they had to utilise the resources they had at home and the grocery shop at the village.

However, she said that things slowly got better as they could go to the market after restriction on movement was eased by the state government.

Starting with a profit of INR 350 on the first day, she said that they now earn around INR 400- 500 every day, except on Sunday. She added that they started running the stall a week after the lockdown began on March.

She also informed that the customers were only from their village as entry and exit from the village was restricted by the village council for safety measures, except for genuine cases.

She shared that they have earned around INR 18000- INR 19000 since they started the business. She said that she felt ‘happy and proud’ of what they have achieved during this testing time.
