Women entrepreneurs get hands-on training on cyber security threats in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — In an attempt to help small businesses in the East and the North-east, especially those led by women entrepreneurs, cope with the growing threat of cyber-crimes, the US Consulate General Kolkata and CUTS International organised a workshop for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on Saturday.

The daylong workshop was held at YouthNet Incubation Centre in Dimapur, on Saturday, in collaboration with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and YouthNet, said an update received here.

The main objective of the workshop was to equip business people with knowledge and hands-on training on how to identify and combat cyber security threats and become cyber-resilient amid growing dependency on digital technologies post the COVID pandemic.

“The workshop would equip the entrepreneurs with the basic understanding of the possible ways of cyber-attacks and methods to combat the threats,” said Arnab Ganguly, Associate Director of CUTS International, at the seminar while highlighting the vulnerability in cyber world.

He added that the training would help the entrepreneurs combat at least 70 percent of the cyber-attacks.

Also speaking at the workshop, Nuneseno Chase, Director of YouthNet, stressed the need for entrepreneurs identify and mitigate cyber security risk, which is one of the top challenges that small business enterprises across the globe face.

Abhishek Mishra, Additional Director of Software Technology Park of India (STPI), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, also spoke at the seminar which was conducted by experts from C-DAC, Patna, including Senior Project Engineer Jai Singh and Knowledge Associate Shivansh Raghuvanshi.

The US Consulate General was represented by Sameek Ghosh, Chief of Strategic Communications, Press and Social Media.
