Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): While lauding the achievement of Naga women in various fields, advisor of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development, R Khing, remarked that women could play an effective role as agents for change in social and economic life. He also urged women to come forward and be part of the law-making body by running for office.

Khing stated this during the inauguration of ‘MyKi Store,’ an initiative of the Women Resources Development department in Kuda village (Nagarjan) in Dimapur on April 26. Khing said that the state government has been implementing a number of initiatives and activities aimed at empowering women, youth, and farmers in order to improve the state’s economy, education, and the society.

While reminding that the roles of women were not recognised during the headhunting period, he, however, stated that women today have come at par with men in every field, if not exceeding them in many.

While delivering opening remarks, the commissioner and secretary of Women Resources Development, Anenla T Sato, stated that ‘Myki store’ products are all made by Naga entrepreneurs and one of the best brands in Nagaland.

Sato added that ‘Myki store’ products are in huge demand not only in Nagaland but also in other states and added that the Women Resources Development has been playing a role of facilitator whenever exhibitions are organised.

Sato further stated that despite being a small department, the staff at Women Resources Development are dynamic and efficient.
