In a horrifying incident, a woman was kidnapped from Kenuozou colony under Kohima district by another woman with the help of three of her youth accomplices and was taken to Secretariat area where she was tortured in most barbaric manner on January 17.Narrating the incident, Chiechama Women Society and Chiecha Kuda Union, in separate releases today, said at around 3 pm on the day, one Nganuo Kelhoukreinuo Pienyü, daughter of Tshurilie Pienyü of Kohima village accompanied by three boys from Nerhema village namely Ruokuokhozo Kiewhuo, son of Chüpfuo Kiewhuo, Neikielhoulie Chatsu, son of late Rukherielie Chatsu and Ruokuotuo Vimerha, son of Neirhituolie Vimerha came to Kenuozou colony and abducted the victim (name withheld) from her residence and put her inside the car of Nganuo to take her towards Secretariat area.
Immediately after putting the victim inside the car, they tied her hands, beat her up severely, cut her hair randomly, cut off all her clothes including undergarments with scissor, scratched and smeared her face with king chilly powder.
When they learnt that the victim was already carrying the child of her ex-husband Asa Metha, Nganuo stabbed her with the scissor and began kicking her stomach. As if these brutal acts could not quench their savagery, two of the boys spread the arms of the victim while one of them spread her legs. Then Nganuo inserted king chilly powder inside her private parts making her unconscious, the Chiechama Women Society said.
Nganuo and the three boys then brought the victim back to Kenuozou colony and pulled her out of the car full naked. Nganuo then shouted in Nagamese to all the colony people to come and witness a thief and a prostitute. Before leaving, Nganuo warned the victim of dire consequences if she tells anyone about the physical assault except cutting her hair.
All these acts were committed for the simple reason that the victim is now living with Asa Metha who was the former husband of Nganuo Kelhoukreinuo Pienyü. Asa Metha and Nganuo Kelhoukreinuo Pienyü are divorced and have even distributed all their properties between themselves, the Chiechama Women Society said.
Expressing sadness the inhuman treatment meted out to a woman member of the society by another woman, the Chiechama Women Society said it is at pain to see young men who hitherto, in our society, are looked upon as brothers who protect women folks from committing such sadistic act.
To register its protest against the heinous and barbaric act of Nganuo and her cronies from Nerhema village and to demand the law enforcing agency to deliver immediate justice, the Chiechama Women Society will take out a silent protest march on March 23 from High School Junction in Kohima at 8 am and later submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Kohima.
The Society has requested every right thinking citizen to pray that the brutality meted to the victim is never inflicted on another woman. It also urged upon Nagas to extend support to it demand for immediate punishment of the guilty. It further urged the man folks to show their manhood in protecting women. The Chiechama Women Society release was issued by its president Lahienuo Metsie-o and secretary Vikuo-ü Metha.
Condemning the incident, Chiecha Kuda Union, in the release issued by its president Menguzelie Rio and general secretary Jasahie Rupre-o, said it was an intolerable and inhuman act in modern society.
Stating that it is shocking that misguided youth are taking law into their own hands, the union said the incident is also clear violations of human rights which should be condemned by one and all. It also appealed to the Kohima district administration not to release the culprits under any circumstances and award them toughest punishment.
