Wokha’s poll officer addresses reporters

Dimapur, March 12 (EMN): The district election officer (DEO) of Wokha Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, conducted a press conference at the “DEO level,” according to the IPR, with media persons based in Wokha. The IPR issued on Tuesday updates about the event.
Samoon called for support. He said ‘all relevant information will be disseminated’ to the public through the journalists, and urged the media to cooperate.

Samoon, also the district’s chief administrator, gave statistics about the district: Wokha has 1,00,624 voters, and 208 polling stations.
Basic minimum facilities will be provided in all the polling stations, he said. Samoon informed that “BWD facilitation” will be conducted in all the polling stations. Consequent to the announcement of election to the Lok Sabha for 2019, the Model Code of Conduct will come into operation with immediate effect. It will be in force till the completion of the election, he said.

The Model Code of Conduct will be applicable to all political parties and to the union government and state government.
Further, the district election officer informed that electors who have been issued with the Electoral Photo ID Card (EPIC) have to produce the card for identification.

Those who are unable to produce the EPIC shall produce any of the following documents as alternative: Passport, driving license, service ID card with photograph issued to employees; passbook with photograph issued by bank/post office; PAN card, Smart Card issued by the RGI under NPR; MNREGA job card; health insurance card issued by the ministry of Labour; pension documents with passport; office ID card issued to MP’s/MLA’s/MLC’s; or Aadhaar card, the IPR added.
