Wokha Town Council issues new regulations

DIMAPUR — The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and executive officer of Wokha Town Council (WTC), Renbomo Ezung, has issued new market regulations to all concerned shopkeepers/traders and business establishment within its jurisdiction.

He has notified all shops and business establishments within WTC jurisdiction to mandatorily put up sign board by October 31 with the name of the shop, nature of the shop, shop license/ permit number and GSTIN (for those shops selling goods/ items under GST rules).

The order also asked all shops to maintain clean and hygiene environment by mandatorily keeping proper waste bin within/outside their shops. All shops owners are asked to refrain from employing salesperson, who is not well acquainted with the prices so as to avoid unnecessary argument and misunderstanding between customers and shop owners.

All shops owners are asked to properly maintain and keep their shop permit license and other related documents in the shop and also directed not sell expired goods to the customers.

All shops are directed not to sell their products above the printed maximum retail price (MRP) as per the Consumer Protection Act 2019 and Legal Metrology Act 2009. It cautioned that any shop or individual found tempering the original printed MRP on any products would be prosecuted under relevant section of the Law.

All shops are asked to remain closed on Sunday except medical shops, while it also directed all the shops owners to install light bulb in their shop by October 31 without fail

It stated that non-compliance to the above regulations by any shop/ individual would be liable to pay penalty of INR 2000 for the first offence and INR 3000 for the subsequence offence.
