Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): Eco Club of Tsumang ‘B’ Colony (Ground Kup Sector), in collaboration with Lolo Ezung and Wokha YouTubers community and supported by Tsumang B’ Colony Council, Lotha Students’ Union, CAO Wokha Chichamo Tsanglao, zonal leprosy officer Dr. Mhonchan Kithan and all concerned individuals, successfully conducted a mass social work at Wokha town public ground on April 30 on the theme ‘Your waste is your responsibility’.

The social work was initiated at Wokha public ground as it is being contaminated by wastes like plastic bags and bottles, chips and sweet covers, cigarette butts, alcohol bottles and beer cans, beverage cans etc., an update from Yanrenthung J Humtsoe stated on Saturday

The additional deputy commissioner and administration of Wokha Town Council (WTC), T Lankonsen Tsanglao, who was also present at the event, expressed his gratitude to all the participants and encouraged all citizens to develop a sense of responsibility and work together towards a better and clean Wokha. He also assured all possible help to the public and NGOs towards making Wokha a clean and better environment.

Yisanbemo Humtsoe, chief organiser of the event, called upon the public for their participation in such activities and urged the citizens to develop a sense of cleanliness and not litter public places.

Also speaking at the programme, Meriyani C Humtsoe, Eco Club team leader, expressed concern on the ugly scenario of improper waste disposal at Wokha local ground. She called upon all the concerned citizens to be responsible and work together in making Wokha local ground a waste-free zone.

The programme started with an  invocation by Tsalamo Humtsoe, Dobashi. It added that face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer were distributed to all the volunteers and strict Covid-19 safety norms were followed throughout the entire activity.
