Wokha police organise literacy competition on plastic-free Nagaland

Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): Wokha police organised a literacy competition — debate, essay and painting – on the theme “Plastic-free Nagaland” on July 27 under the mentorship of Superintendent of Police, Wokha, Manoj Kumar, IPS.

The competition was organised for the children of police personnel studying in different schools in the district, informed an update from DIPR. Altogether, 51 students participated in the competition.

In his key note address, Kumar advocated a beautiful and plastic-free police reserve and urged the students to be ambassadors for a plastic-free environment.

SDPO Wokha, Imkongsangba Jamir welcomed all the participants and wished them the best. He also highlighted the concept and purpose of the competition.

The Regimental School swept the debate competition with its students Mharoni Mozhui, Mercy M Tsopoe and Lochumbeni C Odyuo winning first, second and third prizes respectively. In the essay competition, Thechano Ezung of Santsuo School won the first prize, while Epilo M Ngullie of Regimental School and Thungjanbeni of Cistus School won the second prize; and Zadeno Z Ngullie of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School and Nzanbeni M Kikon of Regimental School won third prize.

In the painting competition Nongo A Odyuo, Lithungo Humtsoe and Lasthung, all from Regimental School, won first, second and third prizes respectively.

The judges for the competition were Khriete Thepru, OC Wokha, UBSI, Anito, NK Renbi, and Edward Ngullie, Headmaster of Regimental School.

The event is third such programme initiated by SP Wokha for a plastic-free environment within the police reserve lines, according to the update. Other activities like putting up of banners signpost and organising workshop on paper bag making have been earlier taken up.
