Dimapur, Feb. 14 (EMN): The Wokha district administration and the district level centre for women- Mahila Shakti Kendra (DLCW-MSK), in collaboration with department of Health and Family Welfare and Sakhi- one stop centre (OSC) organised a one-day awareness programme on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act and free medical camp under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at Old Ralan panchayat hall on February 13.
The awareness programme was organised as part of the year-long activities under BBBP 2021 to be conducted in the district, a DIPR report stated. It stated that around 200 people attended the programme.
Report stated that baby kits to new born girl children were distributed and sanitary pads were also given to the participants. Besides, free medical check-up and free medicines were also distributed to the participants.
The SDO (C) Ralan, who chaired the programme, thanked the team for visiting the area and conducting such a programme. He stated that the people from the area were greatly benefitted through the programme.
Advocate Thungbeni Kikon, OSC case worker, enlightened the gathering about the activities of Sakhi-one stop centre and the various beneficial activities relating to the welfare of women and girl children.
It stated that the chief medical officer (CMO), Wokha, CW Tungoe has briefed the participants about the PCPNDT Act and the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive in the state. He has encouraged all to avail the vaccine to keep themselves free from the coronavirus and further appealed to follow the guidelines and SOPs even after taking the vaccine.
