Wokha DDMA holds review meeting on monsoon preparedness

DIMAPUR — The Wokha District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) held a meeting to review the monsoon preparedness for the district at the DC conference hall on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, who chaired the meeting, requested that the departments concerned monitor the road conditions in their respective areas and divisions to ensure timely repair and maintenance of roads in case of any eventualities.

The DC also directed the Public Works Department (PWD) (National Highways) and PWD (Road and Bridges) to put all machinery in place for emergencies. Ranjan further requested taking up clearance of drainages and culverts at the earliest.

All line departments were also requested to submit the damage report of the recent natural disaster in the district at the earliest for onward submission to higher authorities.

The DC reminded that with the onset of the monsoon, floods, landslides and other kinds of disasters are expected to occur and urged all departments to be prepared to tackle any eventualities.

The assistant director of Food and Civil Supplies, Wokha, appraised the status and availability of food grains, essential commodities, fuel and LPG. The chief medical officer, Wokha, updated on the availability of medicines and essential drugs.
