Dimapur, March 11 (EMN): The monthly meeting of the Wokha District Planning and Development Board was held on March 11 in Wokha. Vice chairman of the board Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon presided over the meeting.
The meeting approved registration of Tssori Old Land Owners’ Union, Fishery Pond Farmers’ Society; and construction of Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union’s office at Sanis town for recommendation, updates from the DIPR stated on Monday.
Samoon, also the district’s deputy commissioner, informed the officials about the announcement of the parliamentary elections for 2019 by the Election Commission. He said stated that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will be enforced. He directed all in concern to abide by the directives of the commission and ensure that the Model Code of Conduct is not violated in any way. He has directed officers to remain in their respective stations and perform their assignment till the election process for the elections concludes.
Also, departments that have not submitted list of employees and vehicles attached to their officers are directed to submit said list at the earliest. Departments that have not given the names of probable enforcement officers for the National Tobacco Control Board are asked to submit them at the earliest.
The use of electronic voting machines (EVM’s) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) was also demonstrated during the meeting.
EVM/VVPAT campaigns
Samoon informed that the second phase of the EVM/VVPAT awareness campaign will start from March 12. In this regard, electors have been requested to coordinate with sector magistrates to make the campaign successful.
Elsewhere, the election establishment for Zunheboto district conducted a programme from March 6 to the 8th concerning use of the EVM/VVPAT.
Mobile vans with EVM/VVPAT went around Zunheboto district, the DIPR stated in its update on Monday. The van went to schools, colleges and various areas of Zunheboto district to demonstrate the functions of the EVM/VVPATS to the public.
