Wokha administration organises tour for girl students

DIMAPUR — Wokha district administration and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) flagged off a one-day study tour-cum-exposure trip for girl students of Wokha town to Kohima on Wednesday.

Addressing the students during a short programme held at DC’s conference hall, the district welfare officer (DWO), James Ezung, stated that the tour programme was organized under BBBP scheme with focus mainly on girl child. He enlightened them to take the exposure trip as an opportunity to learn new things, stated a DIPR report.

He also called upon the students to carry forward the lessons learned during the trip and inspire to dream big and set goals for a brighter future.

Also speaking at the programmem, senior SDEO of Wokha, Minthunglo Ngullie, remarked that girls could be torch bearers of empowerment, resilience and strength. She expressed optimism that through the trip, they would be able to showcase their capabilities, potentials and come back as torch bearer of change ready to inspire, empower and ready to uplift every girl child they come across.

It stated that a total of 23 girl students from 17 schools including five from GHSS and 12 from private schools under Wokha undertook the study tour-cum- exposure trip.

The students visited Nagaland GIS and Remote Sensing Centre, NIELIT and State Hub for Empowerment of Women.
