WNYSU holds general session at New Pangsha

Tsuwing M Lam receives the first Metsio Thai Award during the WNYSU 58th general session on December 29.

Dimapur, Jan. 4 (EMN): Wolam Nyukyan Students’ Union (WNYSU) held its 58th general session on December 29 at Wolam Nyukyan (New Pangsha).

The session was marked with presentation of Metsio Thai Award to meritorious students. According to a DIPR report, the first Metsio Thai Award was conferred to Tsuwing M Lam from Wolam Nyuking Village for securing the top 16 position in HSLC examination 2020. She passed out from Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, and is currently pursuing Science in Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.

The award was felicitated by P Hatho, president of Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU). The award was initiated by Wolam Nyukyan Students’ Union in honour of its pioneer Metsio Thai, the first matriculate and first Pre-University Course (PUC) passed among the Khiamniungan community. He was also the founder of Khiamniungan Students’ Union and Wolam Nyukyan Students’ Union.

The award was also initiated with the approval of the Khiamniungan Students’ Union on December 22, 2017, to be conferred to HSLC toppers among the Khiamniungan community. The award included a medal, certificate and cash.

During the felicitation programme, Tsuwing Lam, encouraged the young students to set target and constantly motivate oneself.
