DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11

The 5th General Conference of Pochury Students’ Union Dimapur (PSUD) was held today at Naga Council Unity Hall Dimapur under the theme ‘Excel with Unity and Co-operation’ with Engineer, S.Posatho Ngouri, Directorate of Geology & Mining as the chief guest.
The chief guest in his address to the gathering reminded of the past years when Pochury community was concerned only with providing education to their children, but with times, he said, the community is moving ahead in all spheres.Terming Dimapur as a migratory town where many people with various backgrounds are settled, Ngouri said that amongst this populace, Pochuries are one entity. “Your presence in Dimapur is the projection of your identity. Any good things you do or achieve will be exalted by your community but any shameful act you do will be an embarrassment to yourself and the society” Ngouri said.
He reminded the students that their sole presence in Dimapur was to pursue their career and not to forget their community as they move ahead in life. “Behind every successful organization there is unity and cooperation.”
Articulating on the term ‘backward’ he pointed out that backward is tagged only for weaker section and acknowledged that the term has been temporarily attached to Pochury community. ‘Let us not take the excuse of this tag for quota but work harder than anyone like the ant and this tag can be done away with by students’ asserted Ngouri.   “Students as backbone of the society must change the image of Pochury community”.
Pochury Hoho Dimapur District, President, Scutsutho Amon and Pochury Women Hoho Dimapur District, President, Ghuchi Snock also exhorted the gathering. During the general conference, scholastic and professional achievers were felicitated.
