With 8 medals, Nagaland finish third in Wushu tally

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Wushu team concluded the Wushu competition of the North East Games 2024 with a total of eight medals, consisting of one gold, three silver, and four bronze. Yoto Chizo secured the solitary gold in the 75 kg event for Nagaland.

The Wushu team has improved the medal tally. It had won six bronze medals in the second edition, an update stated. The two-day Wushu competition was part of the NE Games, which took place at the Sovima Futsal Ground and featured 58 players from different states.

Vipu Zhimomi, Nupa Kiho, and Kekhrieneitso Angami earned silver medals after their loss in the final round. Both Nupa Kiho and Kekhrieneitso Angami were unsuccessful against their Manipur counterparts in their respective finals. Yoto Chizo emerged victorious by defeating Sanjenbam Rohit Meitei from Manipur in the final match.

Akivito Yeptho, Geeta Narjinary, Kivikali Magh, and Lipokjongshi Imchen secured bronze medals.

Manipur demonstrated an impressive performance at the North East Games 2024, securing six gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, totaling ten medals and topping the table. Assam followed in second place with two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. Nagaland claimed the third position with a total of eight medals in the Wushu competition.

Mizoram secured the fourth position with a total of four medals, comprising one gold, one silver, and two bronze. Following closely, Arunachal Pradesh clinched the fifth spot, earning one silver medal. Meghalaya and Sikkim each accumulated five bronze medals.
