[dropcap]W[/dropcap]inter is almost here. It is also called the ‘the season of the rich people.’ With the setting in of the cold season worries and festive mood also come along. Expenses rise. The demarcation line between the rich and the poor becomes very distinct. Food becomes more enjoyable. Women become more kind to their husbands. People staying away from their homes begin to think of their near and dear ones. The ‘wintry feeling’ is everywhere.
THE WORRY: Crime rate sky-rockets during this season. Late night parties, rash driving, driving under influence (DUI), cases of looting, rampant donations, dusty roads, cases of lifting vehicles, night brawls and the scarcity of potable water are some of the things that disturb the festive ambience.THE REGRET: The authorities concerned are aware of the dark side of the festive season. Except for altering certain traffic patterns during the peak Christmas marketing no visible measures will be taken up to lessen the ‘winter worry’ by the authorities.
It is the bounded duty of the government to see that the festive season passes off well. The authorities concerned should take up measures so that the festivity is not affected. It is also everybody’s wish that the dust is minimized by the authorities concerned. Pending bills and salaries of the employees should also be cleared by the firms or the authorities concerned so that one can execute one’s season plans.
The festive season will be complete if NGOs and the government can do something for the aged people who are pushed to the situation where they long for the homely comfort.
“…………………………. here is a place where the rich do not parade themselves before the downtrodden people with swanky cars and designers’ attires……….with fatty wallets containing crispy-tempting notes. It is not so! I have mistaken”.
The winter worry persists.
