Winter Cricket Challenge: wins for LCYO, Kohima Royals
DIMAPUR — LCYO won their first match against defending champions Highlanders on Friday at the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge, organised by the Senior Noble Klan under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket in Association with Wokha Forest Division.
Highlanders won the toss and opted to field first. LCYO set a target of 116 runs after losing all the wickets in 19.4 overs, with Epithung (28 runs), Rendemo (14) and Mhajan (11) as the main run getters.
Chasing the target, Highlanders lost the match by 19 runs. The tops scorers were Jitu (28 runs), Faizul (23) and Akavi (21).
Renchio Odyuo was adjudged the man of the match for claiming two wickets in four overs. Principal of Gilgal High School, Wokha, Orenboni Ezung, gave away the award to Odyuo.
In the second match between Kohima Royals and Black Hawk, Kohima Royals won the toss and opted to bat first and set a target of 182 runs after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.
The Royals’ top contributors were Subenthung Tsopoe (35 runs), Tumben Ngullie (27) and Menchet (19).
Black Hawk failed to reach the target by a huge margin and lost the match by 138 runs in 12.3 overs with only Bidemo Lotha (10 runs) managing to score a double figure.
Zubenthung Erui was adjudged the man of the match for his 13 runs and claiming two wickets.
