Winter Cricket Challenge: Lancer CC through to quarterfinal
DIMAPUR — Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Rampage CC set a target of 120 runs in 20 overs for loss of seven wickets, against Lancer CC in the first match of the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge on Saturday.
The tournament is underway at Wokha local ground.
An update informed that the top scorers for the Rampage CC were Zubemo Kikon (20 runs), Chenithung (18) and Raja Kumar (16).
Chasing the target, Lancer CC managed to win the match by seven wickets in the 14th over, with Temjen Toshi scoring 34, Wahid Ali 31 and Moakumzuk 14, who also took two wickets, for which he was named the Man of the Match.
With this, Lancer CC booked a place in the quarterfinal.
In the second match of the day, the Mavericks won the toss and opted to field first.
Batting first, Kohima Hornbills set a target of 103 runs in 16.3 overs, with D John contributing 22 runs , Raj Kumar 19 and Kepesielie 16.
However, the Mavericks won the match by chasing down the target in 14.3 overs for loss of five wickets.
Mavericks’ top scorers were Mhathung Tsanglao (20 runs) and Tsenpon (19). Nsungthung Erui was declared the Man of the Match for his contribution of 17 runs and three wickets for the Mavericks.
