Kohima, Nov. 14 (EMN): The state-level painting competition themed on energy conservation, part of the national campaign on Energy Conservation for 2018 of the ministry of Power, was held in Kohima on Wednesday.
Commissioner-secretary for Labour, Nungshiyanger Aier attended the closing ceremony as its special guest. In his short speech, Aier spoke to the students about the importance of conserving energy. He gave away prizes to the winners.
Also, PB Das, head of project of the Nagaland State Designated Agency asked the students to be ambassadors of energy conversation.
In category A (class 4-6), the first position was bagged by Zaara Abdul (class V) of Hope Academy School in Dimapur; Ankit Dutta (class VI) from St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Dimapur was adjudged the second prize winner; the third position went to Dhani Poddar (class VI) of Hope Academy School of Dimapur.
The consolation prize winners were Bhamni Hazarika (class V) at St Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Dimapur; Sayed Hamida Begum (class VI) of Kohima JNV; Chaivailung Phom (class V) of Little Star Higher Secondary School in Dimapur; Kierie Meru (class VI) of Northfield School, Kikha; Sourav Sutradhar (class VI) of St Paul School at Purana Bazar in Dimapur; Livina H Awomi (class VI) of St Peters School in Kohima; Senangchila (class V) of Model HSS of Kohima; Tenzing Deakyong Bhutia (class VI) of G Rio School in Kohima; Keviselhou Kense (class VI) of G Rio School in Kohima; and Mesechulie Shuya (class V) of Baptist High Mission School Kohima.
For category B (class 7-9), Sashimeren Imchen (class IX) from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kohima secured the first position; Supolepden Kichu (class IX) of Fernwood School in Kohima and Rishita Deka (class IX) of Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec School of Dimapur, came second and third position, in respective order.
The consolation prize winners were Vihutuo Mepfhüo (class VIII) of Sainik School in Punglwa; Sovik kar Purkayastha (class VII) of Christian HSS in Dimapur; Kayepu H Yepthomi (class VIII) of Holy Cross HSS in Dimapur; Chand Thapa (class IX) of Holy Cross HSS in Dimapur; Talisunep Pongen (class VIII) of Mezhür HSS in Kohima; Chokjenchila T Jamir (class IX) of Livingstone Foundation HSS in Dimapur; Diya Debnath (class VII) of St. Paul HSS in Dimapur; Keyoleto Sachu (class VII) of Azedon School in Kohima; Shreya Chowdhury (class VII) of St. Paul HSS in Dimapur; and Neivisienuo Zuyie (class VII) of Baptist High Mission School in Kohima.
The top three winners from each category will represent Nagaland at the national competition scheduled for December 12, in Delhi.
A total 135 schools from around Nagaland totalling 11, 454 students took part in the competition this year.
