Winfest inaugurated at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, with MLA Dr. Tseilhuotuo Rhütso emphasising skills and self-sufficiency.

DIMAPUR — The inaugural ceremony of Winfest at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, was held on Monday with Dr. Tseilhuotuo Rhütso, MLA, as the special guest.
In his speech, Dr. Rhütso emphasised the importance of contributing to society through education and self-sufficiency. He encouraged the students to become employable, skilful, and assets to their community, thinking beyond government jobs and becoming employers.
According to an update, sharing his personal experiences, he highlighted education’s role in achieving freedom and success. He stressed the need for individuals to be self-sufficient, citing his own examples of working as a newspaper vendor and handling a minibus to earn a living.
He stated that educational qualification alone is not enough, and individuals should strive to become employable and skilful. He said that while education is expensive, ignorance is much more expensive.

After the speech, the oath-taking was done by the house captains. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial torch, which was carried by Vipito Achumi and Dekholu, the winners of the 63rd Winfest Marathon Race.
The honour of lighting the torch was performed by the special guest, marking the official commencement of the event.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the principal highlighted the achievements of the special guest and conveyed gratitude to Dr. Rhütso for his sponsorship of the Futsal event.
