Dimapur, June 4 (EMN): The nodal officer for Covid-19 Dimapur district, Y Kikheto Sema has exhorted the healthcare workers and public of Medziphema to be bold, prepared, and to work in unity asserting that “we would not allow the novel coronavirus to conquer over us.”
Kikheto stated that while speaking at the declaration of community health centre (CHC) at Medziphema to a 20 bedded Covid Care Centre on Friday. He has emphasised on the need for 3Cs (Cooperation, Coordination and Contribution) for fighting coronavirus, a DIPR report stated.
Pointing out that the status of positive cases in Medziphema stood at 86 during his last visit on May 17, Kikheto informed that it has risen to 348 cases and encouraged the people to get vaccinated and not to listen to rumours.
Report stated that Team Dimapur was impressed with the systematic arrangements made at the CCC Medziphema in which the nodal officer gave full credit to the SMO, CHC Medziphema, Dr. N Sezo and team, administration and the citizens of Medziphema.
“If you want to do some investment or contribute towards humanity this is the right time to help others,” Kikheto appealed. He has reiterated on zero tolerance if frontline workers particularly the healthcare workers were harassed in any manner.
He encouraged the healthcare workers and the people of Medziphema to be mentally prepared to overcome the Covid war with a collective approach.
"Team Dimapur is still going strong with God's blessings and we will win the war," Kikheto added.
Also speaking at the function, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, lauded CHC Medziphema for always doing well even during non Covid times. He recalled that even the union health secretary had lauded and appreciated the well maintained and functioning of the health centre during their visit way back in 2016 when he was the joint secretary in the Health department.
He observed that CCC Medziphema has surpassed all other CHCs in a record time and assured of additional back up support anytime through the DTF Dimapur. While noting that Medziphema ought to be the next immediate focus, Rajesh advised them to bring to the notice of ADC Medziphema if there are any issues, so that immediate action could be initiated.
Rajesh further thanked the nodal officer for putting extra focus and energy towards the sub-divisions and rural areas.
CMO Dimapur, Dr. I Moatemjen pointed out that CHC Medziphema has all the required infrastructures in place. He added that considering the long distance from Medziphema to Dimapur, CHC Medziphema was declared CCC after discussion with SMO Medziphema.
He added that mild cases would be treated from CCC Medziphema, while moderate and severe cases would be shifted to Covid Hospital Dimapur.
Senior medical office of CHC Medziphema, Dr. N Sezo informed that CCC Medziphema would start initially with 20 beds. While the Mother and Child ward would continue on the left side of the other building, he stated that CHC would also continue to take care of road accident cases.
Sezo also informed that the Indian army have agreed to take care of the OPD cases. On the occasion, Dr. Sezo also acknowledged John Bendang, a resident of Medziphema, for rendering humanitarian services to the people of Medziphema by taking care of both Covid and non Covid patients from his private car at his own expenses.
In delivering the vote of thanks, chairman of Health Management Committee and NHHDC Ltd., Miathou Krose, expressed gratitude to Team Dimapur for bringing the basic health needs at the doorstep of the people. He also congratulated Team Dimapur for rendering selfless sacrifices while risking their own lives for the welfare of the people.
“Dimapur has become the battlefield and unless we win the battle at Dimapur, Nagaland will not win,” he remarked.
