Dimapur, Jan. 27 (EMN): A day after the NSCN (IM) accused the government of India (GoI) of creating mistrust by deliberately rejecting the Framework Agreement (FA) principle and violating ceasefire ground rules by its security forces and intelligence agencies, the Widows’ Federation of the group has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pleading to make “violence a thing of the past” and solve the Indo-Naga political issue in a peaceful manner.
In the letter, a copy of which is available with this newspaper, the widows said that they have seen enough of fighting and killings over the course of several decades of Naga political struggle. “But, you will agree with us that it is time to say ‘enough is enough.’ No more fighting, no more killing and let there be no more widows and fatherless children,” read the letter.
Reminding the prime minister of the historic Framework Agreement signed in 2015, the federation wished him divine wisdom to solve the Indo-Naga political issue in a peaceful manner.

Dear Hon’ble Prime Minister,
With the onset of New Year, we send our greetings and best wishes as you endeavor to take India towards peace, progress and prosperity.
We the Nagas in general and the widows of war in particular, would like to let you know that we are in positive frame of mind as we closely study the unfolding development with regard to the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks that is being guided and monitored by you. We, however, believe that our hope and aspirations will not be belied under your visionary leadership. During the last seventy two (72) years of Naga political struggle and twenty three (23) years of Indo-Naga political talks, our hearts have cried for the final solution because we have seen enough of fighting and killings. But, you will agree with us that it is time to say ‘enough is enough.’ No more fighting, no more killing and let there be no more widows and fatherless children. Under your dynamic leadership, please make violence a thing of the past. Blood, sweat and tears we have gone through for more than seven (7) decades. That is more than enough for any suppressed people to endure.
Ever since the first Naga was shot dead in Kohima by one Assam Rifles Captain Virk in 1954 during the time of Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and the bloody fighting that followed, we have lost counts, but lakhs of graveyards that abounds in different corners of Naga inhabited areas stands to haunts us every moment. Let us admit ourselves that there is time for everything. There is time for war and there is time for peace and understanding.
Mr. Prime Minister, at the time of signing the historic Framework Agreement at your official residence, in New Delhi on 3rd August, 2015 you have rightly said, “The Naga problem took long to resolve because we did not understand each other.” NSCN Chief Negotiator Mr. Th. Muivah also acknowledged your sincerity to solve the Indo-Naga political issue when he said, ”NSCN and Government of India had come close to understand each other under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
With this reminder to you of your commitment to solve Indo-Naga political issue, we would like to place ourselves in the comfort zone and look towards the days when we shall no more see the horror of war. Let God forbid another bloody conflicts between the Nagas and India. Let divine wisdom be upon you as you shoulder the responsibility to solve the Indo-Naga political issue in peaceful manner.
For your unfailing commitment, Indo-Naga history is in the making where your name would be recorded as a man who solves the longest revolutionary political struggle in Southeast Asia. For your unrelenting effort, our prayer shall go on unceasing.
