Widespread power outage in Dimapur after storm, Power department takes up restoration works
DIMAPUR — Severe rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and hailstorms lashed several parts of Nagaland on Saturday night causing massive damage to power and electricity distribution systems in the state.
According to sources from the Department of Power, heavy downpour and hailstorm damaged more than 10 feeders in Dimapur causing power cuts.
Since Saturday night, Power department personnel have been clearing storm debris and repairing damaged power infrastructure. Work reportedly continued through Sunday afternoon, focusing on uprooted trees, fallen branches, and damaged power lines and posts.
As per reports, some of the affected feeders included the 33KV Padumpkhuri feeder near the power grid; 33 kv Forest and Metha colony; Thahekhu and DBC feeder; 11kv under Industry; 33kv Supermarket; 11kv Shozukhu feeder; 11kV Rajbari feeder; Full Nagarjan-Chekiye feeder.
While some of the feeders were restored by Sunday afternoon, restoration works were on-going in some areas at the time of filing this report.
