DIMAPUR, JUNE 17: With the opening of a new store in town, the Midland- Dhobinala road today experienced tortoise paced traffic as hundreds of shoppers from near and far came to witness the opening of ‘Westside,’ a TATA Enterprise chain store.
Credit the Kley Enterprise of Nagaland for having taken the initiative of bringing one of India’s largest and fastest growing chains of retail stores to the state. ‘Westside’ shopping mall located at Midland near ICICI Bank was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome.
Redefining shopping in the area, the ‘Westside’ store promises to offer the people of Dimapur an international shopping experience with a comprehensive range of apparel, footwear and much more all under one roof. On the very first day, some of the products ran out of sizes and stock thereby proving the success story.
One of the shoppers, who was excitedly waiting outside for the store to open joyfully said, ‘I don’t have to go to Guwahati for Westside kurtas.’ ‘Westside’ has a range of contemporary and exclusively designed clothes for men, women and children, providing not just value for money but also the finest merchandise.
Kley Enterprise is a Nagaland based business venture started by four cousins namely Kezhawhetuo (Soito) Pusa, Lhouvi Mezhur Sekhose, Elivil Pusa and Yanpvuo Kikon with a vision to create a business of value and contribute towards ushering transformation in the State by opening market and economy through collaboration and bringing in the biggest global companies to foster trade, investment and employment generation for our local youths.
The group also encourages the local youth to work in private sector, pursue entrepreneurship and business which would not only contribute to our local economy but also generate employment opportunities for our people and help our generation to become self-sufficient instead of always depending on the Government of India for salary and funds for our survival.
The founders of Kley Enterprise also believed in continuing the legacy of their grandfather, the visionary Samuel Mezhur Sekhose, who was an educationist and the only Indian to receive the British Empire Medal (BEM).
The idea of bringing Westside to Nagaland seemed to have taken almost a decade and was finally agreed upon when the team from Westside visited Dimapur in 2012 for a market survey and feasibility study and was offered to the Kley Enterprise.
Established in the year 1998 as part of Tata group, ‘Trent’ operates the Westside chain store with its centre at Maharashtra.
The company today has established 98 Westside departmental stores measuring 8,000-34,000 sqft in floor space across 50 cities.
