Western Sumis extend relief to displaced Kuki community

DIMAPUR — Western Sümi community comprising WSBAK, Western Sümi Hoho, Western Sümi Kükami Hoho, Western Sümi Totimi Hoho, Western Sumi Sports Association, Western Sumi Students’ Union under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema, WSBAK executive secretary organised a relief aid programme for the displaced Küki community in Nagaland on Saturday.

An update from WSBAK stated that it had made an appeal in the last week of June to all the churches under its organisation for free-will donation to help the displaced Kuki community in Nagaland.

It stated that churches under WSBAK came forward to help adding through the churches donations WSBAK distributed around 270 of rice bags, pulses, mustard oils and toiletries in various places such as Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Phaipijang, Ahthibung and Khaibung.

It stated that a short programme was organised at Küki Baptist Association Mission Centre in Khaibung, where Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema shared from the Bible saying as a Christian one should love the neighbours.

He expressed hope that the relief aid programme would encourage and inspire fellow Christians to come forward and help one another for peace and tranquility to prevail.

Meanwhile, the executive secretary of Kuki Baptist Association expressed his gratitude towards the western Sumi community. It further stated that the president of Western Sumi Hoho, Shikaho Zhimomi, also expressed his support and solidarity towards the Kuki community.
