Western Sumi Organisations ask Centre to sign ceasefire pact with Akato group
Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): The Western Sumi Frontal Organisation (WSFO) has appealed to the government of India to enter into a ceasefire agreement with the NSCN/GPRN group led by Akato Chophi.
This was mentioned during a meeting called by WSFO with the Akato Chophi-led NSCN/GPRN group to discuss various issues at Hoito village on Tuesday.
Interacting with media persons after the meeting, President of Western Sumi Kükami Hoho (WSKH), N Victo Achumi, said it called on the Akato Chophi group for a meeting to appeal against factional clashes or arguments with different groups; it also appealed to the government of India to bring in the Chophi-led NSCN/GPRN group into the ceasefire agreement.
Echoing a similar sentiment, the vice president of WSKH, Lhovishe Achumi, said the meeting was called so that they stand for unity and there is no bloodshed among brothers.
President of Aqhahuto GBs Union, LK Swu, also mentioned that if necessary, they would jointly implore the government of India to sign a ceasefire agreement with the group.
It may be mentioned that on November 19, 2021, Akato Chophi led NSCN/GPRN announced a split from NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) and declared a unilateral ceasefire with the government of India. However, despite more than a year since the announcement was made, the Indian government has not yet signed an official ceasefire agreement with Akato Chophi’s faction.
