Western Sumi Hoho, CSOs resolve not to pay tax to Naga political groups; urge investors to invest
Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and NGOs of the newly created Niuland district on Saturday passed some resolutions on pertinent issues such as developmental problem, unabated taxation by Naga political groups (NPGs), land allotment and free flow of alcohol and drugs into the district.
The resolutions were passed at the WSH’s co-ordination meeting with several leading civil society organisations of Niuland district such as Niuland District GBs’ Association, Niuland Area Citizens’ Forum, Niuland Development Council, Niuland Area GBS Association, Niuland Area Totimi Hoho and Niuland Area Students’ Union, at the DC conference hall in Niuland Town, according to an update received here on Saturday.
The house passed a resolution not to pay taxes to any Naga political groups “as this has become the main reason for hampering the growth and development of Niuland in every sphere”.
‘Lapses and omissions in the land allotment by Niuland district administration to various individuals without following proper norms will be investigated for which a five-person committee has been set up,’ read the update.
“Land donors were also asked not to ask for any land compensation from the government as development belongs to all,” it added.
‘Student union, Totimi Hoho and Citizens Forum of Niuland were assigned to check the free flow of alcohol and drugs in Niuland, which is reportedly becoming a menace and ruining lives of many youths, families and posing a social problem,’ it continued.
The WSH also appealed to all entrepreneurs and business firms to invest in Niuland district without fear, saying that it has a high economic prospect and could become an educational and commercial hub due to its close proximity to Assam and improvement in connectivity with the construction of the Nagaland Expressway, also known as the Foothill Road.
