Web series from Nagaland wins award at KIIFFA
Directed by Bendang Walling, ‘Dreams and Chaos,’ won the ‘Best Web Series’ award at Kashi Indian International Film Festival Awards in New Delhi

Dimapur, April 6 (EMN): Web series ‘Dreams and Chaos’, directed by Bendang Walling won the ‘Best Web Series’ award at Kashi Indian International Film Festival Awards (KIIFFA) held at Hansraj College in New Delhi on April 4.
The web series is adapted from the novel written by Sentilong Ozukum and was created under Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) Youth Ministry.
While speaking to Eastern Mirror, the Director of ‘Dreams and Chaos’ Bendang Walling, said that when they started the project, they never thought they would reach 50k viewership on YouTube.
Walling stated that award will come and go but the most important thing about this acknowledgment is that it would give motivation and encouragement to the younger generations that they are other fields of profession to earn one’s livelihood.
The director opined that one day Nagaland would have its own film industry with the support of everyone.
When queried about the difficulties faced during the shooting, Walling said that ‘Dreams and Chaos’ was made with a very minimal budget and added that since the shooting of the web series started when the relaxation of lockdown started, they faced lots of difficulties as they had to adjust the scene while maintaining the SOP.
The director added that due to the pandemic they used minimalist characters and travelling to other districts were also very difficult.
In creative process, it really did not go according to the plan, but it also taught them to cope with the situation and work.
‘Dreams and Chaos’ web series, he said was started from a drama club under DABA and the budget allocated to them was for a reach out ministry to make a drama and visit churches but due to lock down they changed the plan and decided to make a web series instead.
‘Dream and Chaos’ novel talks about the essence, beauty and the dark side of Naga society and that’s how it started the journey of web series, he said.
When queried about ‘Dream and Chaos’ season-2 as the last episode ended with season 2 awaits, he said that at the moment he cannot reveal anything but all he can say is that ‘let’s be positive with season 2’ and added that they are working on it.
When asked what inspired him to pursue film making, he said that his short film, Blissful was the turning point when he truly believed that film making was his calling as he received lots of encouragement from his colleagues and was also motivated when Blissful was selected for International Film Festival 2016 at Dharamshala.
When asked about the current scenario of film making in Nagaland, Walling said that film is not a new thing for Nagas as film making has been going on for the past few decades and in the current scenario some young people are really trying to come up with new concept of film making.
