Weather report: South-west monsoon to advance in Nagaland

Dimapur, May 19 (EMN): The Water and Soil Conservation (S&WC) department has informed that the southwest monsoon, which is considered the lifeline of the agri-based economy, is expected to advance in the state.

An update from the department stated that the southwest monsoon has come at a time when parts of the state were experiencing high maximum temperatures.

In the last five days, the department has recorded an average maximum temperature of 24.2° C, while the minimum temperature hovered at 16.3° C. The highest temperature of 37.0° C was recorded at Jalukie station on May 17 and the lowest minimum temperature of 10.6° C was reported at Zunheboto station on May 15.

It added that a total accumulative rainfall of 845.9mm was recorded over different stations. The highest rainfall of 46.0mm (moderate rainfall) was reported on May 15 in Meluri station. It stated that the chief amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded as 138mm in the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its weather bulletin stated that light to moderate widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty wind are likely to continue in the state for the next few days.
