Weather forecast: Heavy rainfall expected in Nagaland till May 31
Dimapur, May 27 (EMN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has updated that Nagaland will experience isolated heavy rainfall in the next few days due to the influence of east-west trough from northwest Rajasthan to south Bihar and south-westerly winds from Bay of Bengal to Northeast India at lower tropospheric levels.
“There may be heavy rainfall from 28th to 31st of May all over the state. However, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds is very likely to occur in certain pockets in the districts of Kohima, Wokha, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon and Longleng during this period,” read the weather update.
The NSDMA has urged the public to be vigilant during the monsoon period and requested not to take shelter under large trees or picnic near river banks to prevent unnecessary risk to life from lightning and flash floods. It also requested all the DDMAs and line departments to be on alert and save lives and properties in the event of natural calamities during the monsoon.
