Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has said that it will continue to give its best effort in assisting for an early and acceptable resolution of the Indo-Naga political issue despite the withdrawal of its Legislature Wing from the Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF).

In a press communiqué issued on Wednesday, the NPF stated that it has been playing an active facilitator role for the resolution of the Naga political issue since the inception of the party and will continue to do so.

The party stated that it expected the JLF on Naga political issue to carry forward the role of an active facilitator on the ongoing peace process but claimed the PDA government “did not have confidence with the NPF legislatures and when there is huge trust deficit in the JLF, the party has no point to remain in the Joint Forum but to work on its own for the betterment of the Naga people”.

“The party decision to pull out from the JLF maybe a shocking political development for the PDA but the NPF being a responsible party and with the Naga political issue as one of its topmost priority (priorities) has a genuine reasons to withdraw from the membership and work on its own as the JLF under the present government has no concrete plan to the Naga political issue,” the press communiqué read.

The party also accused the state government of taking the opposition party for ride and failing to “dispatch its responsibility”.

“Even though the NPF has withdrawn from the JLF has asserted that with the formation of Political Affairs Mission (PAM), the party will walk extra mile to assist in any possible manner on any approach for peaceful solution of the Indo-Naga political issue,” it added.
