‘We care’ concert warms up citizens’ hearts
MOKOKCHUNG — The fifth edition of ‘We care’ concert held here at Imkongmeren sports Complex on Tuesday evening, was a huge draw as renowned artistes enthralled the audience with their scintillating acts.
The proceeds of the concert, organised by the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), will go towards the corpus fund to provide free coaching classes to students, from Class 10 drop-outs to Class 12, said Lanutoshi Aier, president of AKM.
Popular local artistes including Hailnator, Tiameren Aier, Chubatsur Jamir, Tiaren Lusang, Akumsen Lemtur, Sunep Lemtur and Lenen Jamir, wooed the more than 5000 music fans with their original melodies.
The evening ended with Dreamz Unlimited taking the centre stage with their power-packed performance.
Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir, the chief host of the evening, in his address said that apart from formal education, the need of the hour is need skill development as government jobs have reached a saturation point.
He also said that English is one important language which is creating opportunities for the Nagas to get jobs abroad.
It may be mentioned that the first edition of ‘We care’ concert was held in 2005, in aid of flood and landslide victims of Mokokchung district, under the leadership of former AKM president Aodangnok.
