Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): In appreciation of the sincere and dedicated service of traffic personnel, Wokha District Entrepreneurs’ Association (WDEA) has constructed a steel structured bench at traffic point in Wokha town.
A WDEA press release stated that Wokha town has lately witnessed increased number of public vehicles. It felt that proper traffic regulation and guidelines could reduce congestion that helped public transport without hurting anyone.
It pointed out that illegal parking, loading/ unloading obstructs flow, reduces capacity at junctions especially at the police point area at Tsumang colony. It added that shop owners by the road side could not even get a free zone to sell their products.
WDEA suggested that traffic personnel should be empowered in their line of duties and also install CCTV at different junctions to see breakdowns, collisions and other causes of congestion.
Further stating that free parking at police point area and below DC’s office contribute indirectly to congestion, WDEA has suggested the administration to introduce comprehensive parking controls with minimal parking charges at certain areas of the town.
