WCC: Wins for GAPYOCC and Lancer CC in the first semi final matches

Wokha, Jan. 6 (EMN): GAPYOCC and Lancer CC registered wins at the first semi final league matches of the Amrit Cement Winter Cricket Challenge (WCC) at Wokha on Saturday.
In the first match, after winning the toss Royal Strikers CC could muster only 91 runs in 19.4 overs against GAPYOCC. Saibal of Royal Strikers CC was the lone batsman to reach the double figure mark scoring 28 runs.
Sunny claimed three wickets, Dipankar two wickets while Vinaio Achumi, Prashurja and Tusenfa claimed a wicket each for GAPYOCC.
GAPYOCC won the match by six wickets in 14 overs after losing four wickets where Tapitu scored 31 runs, Gonesh 13 runs and Santsuthung contributed 12 runs.
Vicky and Laxman claimed two wickets each for Royal Strikers CC.
Sunny Parashar of GAPYOCC was adjudged the man of the match for claiming three important wickets.
The second match of the day was played between EYL CC and Lancer CC. EYL CC after electing to bat first scored 119 runs in 20 overs. Tsenpon (24 runs), Lirenthung (20 runs) and Nchumthung (16) were the notable contributors for EYL CC. Gaurav with four wickets ans a hat-trick, Dipu Chetri two wickets while Pipenthung, Mousuf Shah and Renthungo claimed a wicket each for Lancer CC.
Chasing the target Lancer CC reached the mark in just 16.4 over’s losing four wickets.
Sidarth (32 runs), Dipu (26 runs) and Gaurav (16 runs) helped Lancer CC register an easy win over EYL CC.
Wickets by Wabang (two) while a wicket each from Alumo and Mharomo could not help to stop Lancer CC batsman to finish the match in 16.4 over’s.
Gaurav from Lancer CC claimed the man of the match for his hat-trick and contributed 16 runs not out while batting.
The organisers (SNK) informed that a charity match will be played before the final match on Monday with the District Administrative 11 (consisting of DEF Wokha players, 28th Assam Rifles officers and District Administration) against Pot Precedence 11 (consisting of officials of Winter Cricket Challenge).
The first Double Wicket Cricket tournament will be conducted after the conclusion of Winter Cricket Challenge which will be a yearly event as informed.
