Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): The Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (WC NNPGs) and Kuki National Organisation (KNO) have agreed to appraise each other about the issues that can affect either of them during the peace talks with the government of India.

This was informed through a joint declaration signed by the convener of WC NNGPs, N Kitovi Zhimomi, and president of KNO, PS Haokip. The declaration “Dated: 10/01/2020, Imphal” was made available to this newspaper on Sunday.

“Work together closely in resolving all differences through democratic process thereby the history and identity of one is respected and acknowledged by the other, now and in the future,” read the joint declaration.

“In the principle of harmonious peaceful co-existence, NNPGs and KNO from time to time, appraise each other on issues potentially having socio-political ramifications for one community or the other, during the course of negotiation for political settlement and peace talks with the Union of India,” it added.

It went on to state that the two parties arrived at the agreement “after thorough deliberations on the contentious political, social and inter-community matters prevailing for decades, particularly in Manipur state”.
