DIMAPUR — The Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG) has issued a statement assuring the Nagas that it “remains stable, intact and united as usual”.

The statement follows last week’s impeachment of the Ato Kilonser of the GPRN/NSCN, N Kitovi Zhimomi, who was also the convenor of the WC-NNPG.

The WC-NNPG, comprising seven Naga political groups including the GPRN/NSCN, has been engaged in political dialogue with the government of India since 2017.

In the statement, which was signed by six co-convenors, the WC-NNPG acknowledged the recent “unfortunate misunderstandings” within some NNPG affiliates that have been made public.

However, “the purpose and objective of the WC-NNPG is higher and above the individual or organisational interest that we cannot allow minor differences within affiliated organisations to undermine our core values and goal,” it said.

Maintaining that the Agreed Position signed with the Government of India collectively belongs to the Naga people, the WC-NNPG appealed to the public to, “remain committed to the cause and not be perturbed”.
