DIMAPUR: The Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG) and Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan has a closed-door meeting at the Police Complex in Chümoukedima on Friday.

The nine-member delegation of WC-NNPG was led by its Convener N Kitovi Zhimomi and Co-Convener Isak Sumi.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting which lasted for more than an hour, Isak Sumi it was the group’s first meeting with Ganesan after he became the governor of Nagaland, and that they had apprised him about the current ground realities of the Naga political issues.

He said that they had urged the governor to remind the government of India about the urgency of announcing the solution to the protracted Naga issue and subsequent implementation of the agreement signed.

He went on to say that the ball is now in the court of government of India either or not to solve the Naga issue, as everyone is aware that the formal talks had concluded on October 31, 2019.

When asked if they think the government of Nagaland is sincere in its effort as a facilitator to the peace process, Sumi replied that all political parties make commitment during election to resolve the issue if they are voted to power but the problem has remained unsettled for decades now. So, whether the state government is sincere or not, it is for the people to judge, he added.

Meanwhile, he said that they want to send a message to the government of India through the governor, being the constitutional head of the state, to help pave the way for a final settlement.
