Dimapur, June 20 (EMN): The Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPG) has expressed shock at the allegations made by the Advisor for School Education, KT Sukhalu of misappropriation of Covid funds by the national works and groups under Zunheboto district, and has demanded the advisor to reveal the names of those have allegedly taken money from the fund.

In a statement on Sunday, WC, NNPG asserted that the Covid fund was sanctioned “to mitigate the sufferings and misery of the common man while also providing medical care and assistance to the affected. All National workers are aware of this. This fund is neither for CM, Dy. CM, Medical Minister, political parties or bureaucrats, nor to be diverted and pumped into other ministries and projects.”

Stating that the advisor’s statement was a “rude shock to all right thinking Nagas,” the committee asserted that it would ‘take necessary steps against erring cadres through respective governments and work towards recovery of the amount for it belongs to our people.’

“Currently, WC, NNPGs, comprises seven Naga groups negotiating with the government of India. The groups are clear in their objective that the pandemic must be defeated by strictly following the advice of doctors and medical experts. Thousands of Naga National workers, civil and military members have been directed to follow Covid protocols at all times.

“Save for the ministers, MLAs and Indian government servants, the days are very harsh economically for the rest of Nagas and when an elected representative blatantly make such irresponsible and insensitive remarks as the one made by Mr. KT Sukhalu, who is not even the chairman of Zunheboto district Covid management committee, he is deliberately provoking a great mass of helplessly sandwiched Naga people fighting pandemic on one hand and staring at hunger and starvation on the other, to react against national workers. In these testing times, Mr. KT Sukhalu would be held fully responsible if any national worker become victim of his Covid-fund-demand lie while pleasing his master,” read the statement.
