Dimapur, Oct. 20 (EMN): The Watsü Mungdang, apex Ao women organisation, has alleged foul play in a case concerning the death of a 15-year-old schoolboy at Aoyimti in Dimapur on September 18.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the organisation questioned the silence and “inaction of the law enforcement authorities surrounding the suspicious death” of the minor boy.

It stated that the victim was declared to have committed suicide at the residence of a former high-ranking police official.

However, it stated, later when the victim’s relatives “examined” the body, “telltale signs of physical trauma” were evident as opposed to the suicide claim made by the former officer’s wife.

“Circumstantial evidence point to foul play and the death made to look like a case of suicide. We, the Watsü Mungdang, strongly condemn and question the suspicious nature in which the incident was swept under the carpet despite compelling evidence justifying police investigation as well as open declaration of the murder by different groups in the local dailies. It is to be noted that the law enables the police conduct investigation suo moto,” it stated.
