[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ith the theme ‘Labor wins’, the Western Angami Students Union (WASU) organized a seminar on career guidance at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima with Kelhuseto Nakhro, Deputy Secretary, NPSC, Mohammed Ali Shihab, IAS, SDO, Sechü Zubza and Kekhrieselhou Kitshe, Forest Ranger, Kohima Division as the main resource persons. The seminar was sponsored by the Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO).
The seminar was chaired by President, Kedoroko Casavi and prayer invoked by Mhasikhoto Zhünyü, Vice President, Angami Public Organisation. A brief experiences were shared by Er. Kenisevi Meyase. Junior Engineer, PHED.
Asserting that competitions are tough today, Kelhuseto Nakhro pointed out the trends in NPSC where in 2014, 12, 631 people appeared for 71 posts, in 2013, 12, 900 attempted for 73 posts.Further, saying that most of the successful candidates did not come from affluent backgrounds or study in expensive schools, the Deputy Secretary encouraged the participants to concentrate on their target settings, to program their mind for success and have confidence in themselves but not to be overconfident. Nakhro hoped that the awareness seminar would be the starting of a thinking process for each of the participants.
Mohammed Ali Shihab shared on the familiarisation of civil service exams where he covered mainly on the Union Public Service Commission. Shihab also emphasized on the need to hone writing skills and the continuity of learning process. Adding that failure is a discovery, Shihab encouraged the students not to lose passion.
