Kohima, Nov. 14 (EMN): In an attempt to create awareness on child rights on the occasion of Children’s Day, the office of CHILDLINE Kohima, and District Child Protection Unit, inaugurated a child-friendly wall painting beneath the pedestrian flyover at box cutting, Kohima.
Administrator of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), T Lanusenla Longkumer inaugurated the wall painting in the presence of staff of CHILDLINE Kohima and DCPU, Kohima.
Centre coordinator CHILDLINE Kohima, Neingu Kulnu said the main objective of the wall painting was to create awareness on child rights and CHILDLINE Number 1098.
She said they chose wall paintings to mark Children’s Day this year because children like creativity and arts. Looking at the wall painting, the children as well as citizens can come to know the important numbers and rights of children. She hoped that children will be able to come to know that they need any assistance, they can dial the 1098.
‘One might assume that children are safe. But as per the interventions by the CHILDLINE Kohima and DCPU, Kohima, it showed that children are not safe', she said.
Kulnu shared that creating the child-friendly wall would be an important awareness for children and for the citizens as a whole.
The wall depicts various child rights and services meant for children in need of care and protection.
The wall painting was supported by Kohima Smart City and KMC.
