- DIMAPUR — A Page of 2 Lands, a cross-cultural
arts collaboration between Wales and Nagaland, will unfold at Arthshila
Shantiniketan in West Bengal from April 28 to May 1, culminating in a public
showcase on May 2.
- According to an update developed by Meta Arts (India) and
Cardiff-based arts producer Kate Perridge, the project brings together four
women writers and illustrators—Emily Jones and Hannah McPake from Cardiff and
Vishü Rita Krocha and Thejavinou Savi from Kohima—to explore contemporary
storytelling rooted in folk traditions and lived experiences.
- Funded by Wales Arts International, with support from the
British Council, Arthshila Shantiniketan, and Task Force for Music and Arts
(TaFMA), Nagaland, A Page of 2 Lands is an attempt to create equitable creative
spaces across gender and cultures.
- Recognising the historic under-representation of women in
visual storytelling and literature-linked arts in India, the project fosters a
new platform for women artists to collaborate internationally, shifting
perceptions towards more inclusive, ethical practices in the arts.
- The event will feature a public talk reflecting on cross-cultural
storytelling and artistic equity, a dramatised reading session bringing new
narratives to life, and an exhibition walkthrough offering a glimpse into the
collaborative process and creations.
