[dropcap]S[/dropcap]canning the horizon and in continuation of what I wrote earlier under the title, ‘Calling the Attention of the Angamis; In Urgent Need of Servant Leadership’, I once again humbly offer some suggestions, which may just appear as “wild ideas” to some, and share my deepest concerns and fears about the possible consequences if the present political “dog-eat-dog” game and quagmire is not addressed before things go out of control and become unmanageable. I am aware that many better minds must be doing some similar stretching exercises already. Let us recollect what the great thinker Albert Einstein once said – “The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.”In other words, our present level of thinking must become wider, go deeper, rise higher and offer richer, wiser and finer options or alternatives if we are to sincerely make attempts to resolve the crisis. It is an extraordinary crisis; it calls for an extraordinary response tapping the best suggestions or advices from the best minds amongst our people for the larger good of our society. The further damage to relationships at all levels within and between Naga tribes that will result from a head-on collision is going to be too costly. Our wounded society cannot cope with more wounding. With prevention of the worst in mind, the following possibilities are suggested for consideration:
1. For NPF: In view of the leadership tussle, why not share power with one as Chief Minister and the other as Deputy Chief Minister; one as Party President and the other as Senior Party Advisor. This arrangement can provide collective and stronger leadership in the government and synergistic teamwork in the party.
2. For Angami MLAs: To show magnanimity, can I once again ask all Angami MLAs to remain mere MLAs and offer ministerial berths to other tribes in favour of a stable government and good governance? While I make this appeal to my fellow Angami MLAs as a deeply concerned Angami, it is also applicable to other tribes with more sensible attitudes.
3. For Government Formation: To entrust equal participation and collective responsibilities, why not allow other non-NPF members (BJP, NCP, JD(U), Congress and Independents) to form government with NPF support (Nagas breaking records and making history once again).
4. For all Sixty MLAs and 2 MPs: To resign in favour of a political settlement, which should be an Interim or Transitional Agreement, keeping in mind the unity and integration of all Naga areas and towards a final and permanent settlement of our political issue (remembering that there are Nagas in Burma/Myanmar also, who are equally involved from the very beginning of our Naga movement before partition).
5. Naga Political Groups: All groups/factions should come together under some kind of Common Political Jurisdiction (rising above their present nomenclatures), which is inclusive in nature, to provide a better, stronger Naga voice towards solution at this point and juncture of our political history and journey.
6. For Each Citizen: All Naga organizations, starting from Naga Hoho to the village level students, youth and women organizations, should maintain moral authority and integrity by keeping friendly or safe distance from (or closeness to) all political parties and politicians and so also to/from all factions.
Every Goliath can be overcome. Let a fresh wind blow once again. This is our moment to wake up from the slumber of complacency and bankruptcy. This is the opportunity to tap, garner and harness the resources of our souls. Our journey started with one voice and our ancestors and pioneers made it a ground-swell movement. Today we can seize the day and pitch our Naga tent higher. God grant us His mercy.
