DIMAPUR — The Election Commission of India (ECI), in consultation with the Government of Nagaland, has designated Vyasan R, as the new chief electoral officer (CEO) for the State of Nagaland, replacing the outgoing CEO, V Shashank Shekhar.

The appointment of Vyasan R as the chief electoral officer comes into effect from the date he assumes charge and will remain in force until further orders, stated an official order from the office of the CEO.

As per the Election Commission of India letter issued last week, Vyasan had taken over the charge of CEO Nagaland with effect from October 13.

As part of this designation, Vyasan will immediately cease to hold and hand over any charges or responsibilities he may have been holding under the government of Nagaland, before taking up the position of chief electoral officer.

“During his tenure as the chief electoral officer, Nagaland, Vyasan R will not undertake any additional charges or responsibilities under the Government of Nagaland, except for the designation as the secretary to the government in charge of the Election Department in the state secretariat,” stated the order.
