Dimapur, Dec. 1 (EMN): Vivekananda Welfare Foundation conducted its 3rd annual general meeting on November 30 at Orchid conference hall of Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, which also marked the dissolution of the old executive team and declaration of new board members and sub-executive committee.
An update from the foundation stated that the new team of office bearers for the tenure 2021-2023 would be led by Niranjan Saha as president as well as chief functionary, while Chetan Mazumder and Pronay Barai have been appointed as vice presidents. Among the board members, Ashim Debnath has been elected as secretary, Arijit Sharma as joint secretary, Arup Dasgupta as finance secretary, Sujib Roy as treasurer, and Pankaj Debnath and Seema Bhowal as executives.
Presenting the activities report from 2017 till the financial year 2019-20, VWF president Niranjan Saha stated that while the organisation was involved in numerous activities, its primary focus had always been on educational initiatives, medical assistance, women empowerment and youth empowerment.
Giving a brief introduction of the foundation, its vice president Avijit Chakraborty mentioned that though the organisation came into existence in the year 2015, it only got the legal recognition in 2017. He added that the foundation has been doing many activities that reflect the ideals of Swami Vivekananda since its inception.
Reeme Deb, project coordinator of “Pratibha”- an initiative of VWF through which the foundation provides education to the needy children, stressed on the need to take the project at next level. She also put forward the vision and missions of the foundation for the next tenure.
VWF also resolved to set up two new branches in Assam, one covering Khatkhati/ Bokajan and one in Silchar.
