Voter awareness campaign held in Mokokchung
DIMAPUR — An intensive voter awareness campaign, organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Mokokchung, in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election, Mokokchung, was held on March 9 at Sungkomen community hall, Mokokchung.
According to a DIPR report, Ajit Kumar, assistant commissioner of Mokokchung, attended the programme as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar emphasised the importance of raising awareness regarding the voting process. He highlighted the significance of understanding the value of voting rights and using political power to effect social change.
Quoting Franklin D. Roosevelt, Kumar asserted the significance of exercising one’s franchise and electing effective, people-centric leaders to foster progress and development. He also advocated for enhancing participation in the voting system to make democracy more vibrant.
The programme was chaired by Temjenzungla from NYV while Imtimenla Aier, APW, from Sungkomen Baptist Church, invoked God’s blessings.
Talinochet from NYV delivered the welcome address, and Nungsang pronounced the vote of thanks. A demonstration on electronic voting machines (EVMs) was conducted after the programme.
