‘Vote is not cheap sellable commodity but valued price tag’

Dimapur, Dec. 3 (EMN): Vote is not a cheap sellable commodity but a self highly valued price tag, said Deputy Director of ATI Dr. Hovithal Sothu.
Hw was addressing the ‘1st Pol-Expo 2017,’ initiated by department of Political Science, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, on Nov. 30 under the theme, “Igniting young minds through clean election.”
Citing the universal adult franchise, a constitutional right on the principle of one man, one vote and that none should be allow to be decided by others, he advised the youths to be the brand ambassador of change, the change that one wish.
The speaker also shared on the need for clean election in India and eradication of the evil percept of money power which rule over society. Reminding that Nagaland being a Christian state, Dr. Sothu told the students to keep in mind that youth should be the ambassador of change and the need for knowing whom to elect as their representative.
As a responsible youth one should be futuristic and must know how to choose an honest, God fearing right leader who can do justice to the society, said Dr. Sothu, adding that change start from self as model to the ill present political society in making a difference.
Youth should teach and spread the message of clean election campaign to the ignorant and help in eradication of corruption, money power and treats such activities as crime for bettering tomorrow society.
The session was followed by debate, poster and slogan making, quiz, creative expression, jam and cosplay competition in connection with the theme to explore and facilitate potential students to see and move a step ahead as the need and requirement of the present political system.
Students debated on the topic “Clean Election Campaign,A Good Initiative For A Clean Nagaland”.
The programme was organised in partnership with the office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima and sponsored by Directorate of Agriculture AP Chopy, Account General (Audit), Deputy Commissioner office and District Election Officer, Kohima.
The pol-expo will continue to celebrate annually by the dept. of political science with a motive to train young minds, the release infromed. The programme concluded with declaration of results for various competitions.
